He is the well-acknowledge President of the Asociación de Futbolistas Españoles (AFE) since 2010.
During his career as professional football player, he successed bringing Levante UD up from Second division to First division on 2005/2006 season. Five years after, he decided to retire while he was at Hamilton Academical Football Club, and since then has fully engaged in the football industry, away from the fields.
Since he retired, he was appointed as the president of AFE. He was also appointed as vicepresident of FIFpro since 2013 and at the same time became a member of the Board of Directors for several institutions such as UEFA, RFEF and Consejo Superior de Deportes (CSD).
AFE is an association of group of players that ensures the integral development of each player as an indiviudal and a collective, as well as ensuring their work, economic, education, social and future rights. AFE also helps transmitting the value of sport to all members and societies to which it extends its reach.
The value of AFE is Unity, Proximity, Transparency, Intergrity and Firmness.
