Alfonso Beltrán García-Echániz, born in Madrid 1960, is the General DIrector of FIPSE (Fundación para la Innovación y la Prospectiva en Salud en España). He has a Doctorate in Veterinary at Universidad Complutense de Madrid and has developed his scientific career in the University of Georgia (USA) and the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), where is Title Scientific in the areas of nutrition, science and food technology. His management career has been centered in the planification of scientific-technological politics, having been responsible in the elaboration of several Spanish plans and strategies in the R&D fields, such as energy efficiency and renewable energies. Furthermore, he has been appointed to different responsibility positions in the management and direction of scientific and investigation entitites like Ministries from Scientific, Industrial, Energy, Technology or Education fields (CDTI; FECYT; IDAE , etc,).
Alfonso has been counsellor in the Adminsitration of 34 technological societies, patron at 7 foundations linked to knowlegde and formation and council member of 3 public companies realted to the technological sector.
Internationally, his achievements include being President of the Asociación de Agencias Europeas de Energía and representation of Spain in different forums and committees in the Life Sciences sector.
